Susan Eisenstadt - Los Angeles area family photographer

This is not the me you're likely to encounter...

...but this is more likely.

This is "The Other Eisenstaedt" - different spelling.  I like to think we're somehow related so I keep his portrait in my office.

One of Alfred Eisenstaedt's most famous photos. An inspiration to me, he was still working into his 90s.

I am Susan Eisenstadt, the one woman "team" behind Your Baby My Camera and Your Wedding My Camera, specializing in all variety of family photography.  My background has included fashion design, fine art, illustration, and independent film publicity.

Turning professional photographer came about after spending three years photographing newborns at Providence Tarzana Hospital.  When I went freelance, I expanded my work to include babies of all ages - those still in mommy's tummy, to those a few hours old, and up to 90+ years.  The entire circle of life intrigues me.

My husband and I have lived in the San Fernando Valley since the 1970s.  Our son grew up here.  We also are parents to Luna, our lovely 80-pound Labrador Retriever.

Most of my clients are located in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange County but I am always up for a road-trip if you're outside that range.

My work is done exclusively on location - no studio for me.  Together with my clients we've done sessions at home, in gardens, on beaches, on city streets, at museums, art galleries, horse ranches, playgrounds and parks making use of our diverse Southern California landscape. Every session is personalized to YOU.  We are fortunate to have some of the most exquisite locations and a climate that allows for beautiful natural light photography.

Your photo session will evolve organically though we will do some posed photos.  My style is more documentary or "life style" and I try not to force a camera aware attitude from my subjects.  I strive to make your photo session an enjoyable time getting to know all members of your family.  It's a good idea to present your upcoming photo session to children old enough to understand as a "get together" - an adventure - a fun day - that won't require a bribe.  There's always time for a small snack break during one of my photo sessions and I am sensitive to everyone's endurance.

All facial expressions and gestures are welcome as long as they occur spontaneously.  I'm as pleased with a pout as a smile.  My eye will be seeking every variety of reaction.. I will never tell your child to "say cheeeeeese" (and hope you won't either).

Your pets are members of your family and I am always happy to include yours in our photo session.
